IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Joseph Ernest
Cummings
June 24, 1950 – February 10, 2026
Joseph Ernest Cummings (“Joe”), 75, of Clermont, Florida, passed away peacefully on February 10, 2026. He was born on June 24, 1950, in Buffalo, New York, to the late Ernest Joseph Cummings and Mary Rose Cummings.
Joe was the beloved husband of Barbara (“Barb”) Cummings and a devoted father to his daughters, Jennifer (“Jenny”) Threlfall and Laura Falletta. He was a proud and loving grandfather to Jordan, Zoe, Violet, and Penny Threlfall, and a cherished father-in-law to Jeffrey (“Jeff”) Threlfall and Eric Falletta. Joe is also survived by his siblings Richard (“Rick”) Cummings (Kathy), Michael (“Mike”) Cummings, Cindy Rutz (Joe), and Kathy Lock, along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
Joe built a remarkable career at Xerox, where he worked for over 40 years in a variety of roles. He retired in 2012 as a Customer Service Manager, leaving behind a legacy of dedication, leadership, and friendships that lasted well beyond his career. He earned his bachelor’s degree in Buffalo and went on to complete his master’s degree at the University of Rochester, reflecting his lifelong commitment to learning and growth.
Joe had a deep love for life and the people around him. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed playing pickleball with friends and neighbors. A lifelong Buffalo Bills fan—through the highs and lows—he also loved Disney, fireworks, camping, and any opportunity for adventure. He and Barb built a lifetime of memories traveling with their family, especially to Florida and Daytona Beach, where Joe’s love of the beach began. After moving to Florida, Joe and Barb became regulars at Disney, often enjoying their favorite simple pleasure: sitting together and watching fireworks.
Joe treasured the many summers spent camping at Brennan Beach with family and friends, where he became known for his enthusiastic nighttime “raccoon and skunk hunts.” He was always ready to host a gathering, welcome everyone in, and make sure there was laughter. Joe was truly the life of the party, and everyone felt at home in his presence.
Above all else, Joe loved his family. He devoted countless hours to his daughters as they grew up, including proudly coaching their sports teams and cheering them on every step of the way. He later cherished every moment with his grandchildren, happily playing Peppa Pig and Bluey, pretending to run restaurants, teaching the youngest to swim, and creating memories they will carry forever. He loved family game nights, especially playing Train, Skyjo, Euchre, and cards. Joe was always there for his daughters, lending a helping hand on countless home projects and always ready to support them in any way he could.
Joe was deeply community-minded and never hesitated to volunteer his time or lend a hand. He was the first to say yes when someone needed help, embodying generosity, kindness, and quiet strength.
Joe will be remembered for his warm heart, his willingness to help anyone, his sense of adventure, and his unwavering love for his family and friends. His presence brought joy, laughter, and comfort to all who knew him. His legacy lives on in the countless memories he created and the lives he touched so deeply.
