Jon Michael VanderLey was born July 31, 1938 and passed away February 5, 2017 surrounded by his loving family.  He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Kay and 4 of their children, Joshua (Michelle), Betsy (Todd), Ella (Joerg) and Joel.  He is preceded in death by his son Wesley.  He is also survived by grandchildren; Christopher, Jacob, Rachel, Hunter, Ethan, Hanna and Jackson and great grandchildren Joseph and Annabella.  He served his community in many ways, most notably as the mayor of Oakland from 1998 to 2004, his vision for the town included the Oakland Avenue Charter School which leave a legacy of education and community to the town. Jon loved God and now lives with Him.  A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 11, 2017 at Mosaic Community Church, 608 West Oakland Ave., Oakland, FL 34760 at 11:00 a.m. Please consider a donation to Salvation Army in memorial.
