IN LOVING MEMORY OF
John Derek
Wiltrout
April 16, 1967 – March 8, 2025
John Derek Wiltrout, 57, of Clermont, passed away Saturday, March 8, 2025. He was born April 16, 1967 in Alexandria, VA to John and Linda Wiltrout, and spent his childhood in Pittsburgh, PA.
Derek was a proud Veteran of the United States Army. After his service, he became a Maintenance Mechanic for Amcor, a plastics manufacturing company.
Derek moved to Florida in 1990 and has lived in Clermont since 1997.
He was the best dad anyone could have asked for. If your car broke down, he'd drive halfway across the state to fix it.He was the best mechanic to ever touch a wrench. Derek could fix literally anything, which he was extremely proud of and reminded everyone often. He had tremendous work ethic, which he tried his best to instill in his children.
He was also an amazing grandfather. He wanted his granddaughter Ellie to call him "King Grandpa the Magnificent". He spoiled that child before she was even born.
Derek was also an amazing cook and loved to share. All of his friends and family would have something good to say about his Eggs Benedict or French onion soup.
He made friends everywhere he went. Everyone he talked to was his friend, and he talked to everybody.
Derek is survived by his children, David, Joseph (Kathryn), Jennifer, Lexie, and Sophie; grandchild, Ellie, mother, Linda Lane; father, John David Wiltrout; and siblings Wendy Flaherty (Patrick), and Kristy Harrison (Jeff).
The family will receive friends Friday, April 4, 2025, from 9:30am until 11am. A Celebration of Life will start at 11am. Services with Military Honors at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL, will be held at 1:30pm.
