John C. Wang, 78, of Winter Garden, passed away Wednesday, October 18, 2023.

John Chung-Wei Wang, 王重威, was born in Chongqing, 重庆市, China to 王純, Wang Chun of Chao Dong County, Heilongjiang Province, and 潘興周, Pan Xing Zhou of Hunan Province, on the 26th day of the 7th Lunar calendar month, 1945, that is, September 2, 1945, the day Japan surrendered to end World War II.  During the Revolution in China, his family escaped to the island of Taiwan, where John grew up in Taipei.

He graduated with a law degree from National Taiwan University in 1967, and then coming to the United States, he completed a Master's degree in international law at Northwestern State University, Natchitoches, Louisiana, before moving to Queens, NY.

John and Anne-Marie were married on September 7th, 1974, at the chapel of Rutgers University, New Brunswick, New Jersey.  They welcomed their firstborn daughter Jeannie, and their first house was in Sparta, NJ.

John worked for Prudential Insurance Company for 28 years, first, in mainframe computer programming, specializing in COBOL, in Roseland, NJ, until he was promoted to Senior COBOL Instructor and the family relocated to Pennsylvania in 1979.

His second daughter Sophia and son Michael were born in PA.  John later traveled to instruct business clients for Microfocus/Merant and finished his career with Motorola Mobility in Horsham, PA.

On August 12, 1984, John was baptized at Chelten Baptist Church in Dresher, PA, where he was a member for about 40 years and proudly served as a deacon.  By the grace of God, John trusted that he was a child of God and was going to enjoy eternal life with Jesus.

John always caught the nightly news and grabbed jokes to tell from the Tonight Show with Jay Leno.  He often watched historical military documentaries with his son and collected model planes.  He also liked playing tennis and shooting basketball with his reliable skyhook.

John most valued the time spent together taking his family and friends out to eat and driving his family to vacation in special places like Acadia National Park, Maine, and Myrtle Beach, SC.  He loved eating tofu dishes, mochi, and ice cream, but joked that, like President H.W. Bush, he'd avoid broccoli, if he could.

John is remembered with love by his wife of 49 years Anne-Marie Wang of Winter Garden, FL, and their children Dr. Jeannie of Chicago, IL, Sophia of Fort Washington, PA, and Michael Wang of Laurel, MD.

He's also survived by his older brother Dr. George Chung-Shih Wang, 王重實, (Diana S., 孫迪美) Wang of Piscataway, NJ, and their family, and younger brother C.P., Chung-Ping, 王重平, (Shelly, Jin-Xiu, 陳錦秀) Wang of Taipei, Taiwan, and their family.

A Celebration of Life will be held Monday, October 30, 2023, 11am, at Becker Funeral Home.  The family will receive friends starting at 10am.

For friends in the Pennsylvania area, a Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, November 25, 2023, 10:30 AM at Chelten - a Church of Hope, 1601 N Limekiln Pike, Dresher, PA 19025.  Following the 10:30 AM service in the Worship Center, there will be a receiving line and Light luncheon in the Fellowship Hall
