Obituary

It is with deep, and heavy sadness that we announce the passing of John Joseph Stanley know to his friends and family as "Jack ". The Lord called him home on June 18, 2017, after a short but courageous battle with cancer. Jack was born in Methuen, Mass in 1942, and lived in Salem, NH, a suburb of Boston, MA for a large part of his life before retiring and moving to Kings Ridge in Clermont, FL with his wife of 55 years, Terry, in 2001 to be closer to his sons Jay and Glenn Stanley whom he loved more than anything.   Jack had many friends, was a man full of wisdom and priceless advice. He was always a risk taker and an entrepreneur and spent many years as owner of a Knapp Shoes franchise store, a salesman, and working for DIGITAL Equipment Corp in Salem, NH.  Jack especially loved travel with his wife and family. Whether taking cruises, visiting Europe and Hawaii, Niagara Falls, Sedona, AZ or just taking a drive to see the country. He was always up for any new adventure, and always found a way to take his family on great and memorable adventures. Like converting his van to an RV in 1974 to drive 1500 miles to take the family to camp at Fort Wilderness at Disney World in Orlando. It was the first of many trips to Florida which the family grew to love so much they all eventually relocated to central Florida.  He spent the majority of his free time with his family and friends. He really enjoyed shopping and could never turn down a good deal or bargain, and was very generous always thinking about what others needed before his own needs and what he could do to help others. He was resourceful, inventive and determined and sometimes stubborn. He would always find a way to make things possible even when others deemed things impossible. Impossible, not for Jack. He always found a way.  He is survived by his wife, Therese; his sons, Jay and Glenn and daughter-in-law, Lisa.  He was pre deceased by his mother Mary Stanley, his Dad John Stanley, Sr., a brother and sister Eugene Stanley and Theresa Stanley. A memorial will be held at a later time. Please feel free to email jaystanley777@gmail.com or terrystanley41@gmail.com or glennstanley@hotmail.com The family asks that no flowers be sent.
