John L. Rocker, Jr., 89, of Clermont, FL passed away Friday, September 16, 2016. John was born on January 7, 1927 in Atlanta, GA, son of John L. and Bernice (nee Parker) Rocker, Sr.. He served in the U.S. Army and then graduated from the University of Florida with a degree in Agriculture. John moved to Clermont in 1967 and owned and operated Rocker Realty and Appraisals of Central Florida. He was a member of the Appraisal Institute of Chicago, Lake County Board of Directors, South Lake Chamber of Commerce, Elks Lodge and various other community organizations in the South Lake Area. John was a member and former Deacon of the First Baptist Church of Clermont.
He is survived by his loving wife, Mary; children, John L. (Christy) Rocker, III of Clermont, Judy (Dane) Cornell of Windermere, FL and Janet Cox of Clermont; siblings, Joan Hall of Sarasota, FL and Catherine Rocker of Atlanta, GA; grandchildren, Angie Cornell, Ashley (Andy) James, Emily (Ryan) Phillips and Shane Rocker and great grandchildren, Isaac Cornell, Devin Burmeister, Jaxon, Aiden and Declan James and Maddux Phillips and soon to be born great grandchild, Harper Ann Phillips. John was preceded in death by siblings, Yvonne Rocker White, George Rocker and Selma Segrest.
Graveside Services for Mr. Rocker will be held at 10:30 AM Wednesday, October 5, 2016 at Oak Hill Cemetery, Clermont. Pastor Ben Bond officiating.
