IN LOVING MEMORY OF
John F.
Newton, Iii
October 2, 1946 – April 19, 2020
John F. Newton, III, son of the late John F. Newton, II and Helen Bienstock Newton passed away on Sunday, April 19, 2020. He was born on October 2, 1946 in Orlando, Florida. After graduating high school, John joined the United States Army in 1964 serving two tours in Vietnam. Upon John's honorable discharge, he returned home to work at the family owned business as a diesel mechanic, Clemen's Truck Parts better known as Newton and Sons, where he eventually became a co-owner. Even though he was a business owner, you would never find John sitting behind a desk. He was always hard at work in the shop.
John loved racing. From Friday night dirt tracks to racing semi-trucks but his favorite was watching NASCAR on Sundays. John enjoyed travelling to different racetracks across the country with his beloved family in tow. These simple trips are now very fond memories for all. John was also an excellent marksman and participated in competition trap shooting, competing in matches from Tampa to Las Vegas and a lot of places in between. Many of these years were spent shooting alongside his father and his best friend, Tommy Wagner.
John will always be remembered as a quiet man with giant-sized, gentle, loving heart. He is survived by his loving wife, Shirley J. Newton; brother, Kenneth (Melinda) Newton of Knoxville, Tennessee; children, Robert Addam Newton of Clermont, Florida, Kelly Greer of Bristol, Tennessee, Brad (Margo) Pedigo of Naples, Florida, Dustin Poffinbarger of Freelandville, Indiana, and Anissa Everett and Kyra Newton (great granddaughter) of Clermont, Florida; nine grandchildren, Brandi, Charles, Chris, Nathan all of Bristol, Tennessee, Brandon of Casselberry, Florida, Casey of St. Charles, Missouri, Dustin Jr. of Orlando, Florida, Amy Lewis of Franklin, North Carolina, Kailyn Pedigo of Apopka, Florida; twelve great grandchildren; twin brothers and a sister; and many nieces and nephews. John was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Dennis (Dan) Newton and granddaughter, Callie Bush.
A celebration of John's life with military honors will be held at a later date.
