Obituary

John Warner Nethero was born in Canton, Ohio on July 23, 1944 to the late Warner and Ruth (Barnett) Nethero. He grew up with his brother, the late Michael Nethero and was surrounded by several aunts, uncles and cousins.

John attended The Ohio State University, and he was quick to remind everyone that the "The" is very important when referring to his alma mater. While attending The Ohio State University he served as the commander for the Angel Flight All Female Drill Team that won several awards during his tenure. After receiving his degree in Foreign Policy and Diplomacy, John was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the United States Air Force.

While attending combat crew training in Houston, Texas, prior to deploying to Okinawa, Japan, John met the love of his life, Margaret "Ann" Sasser. After only one date he asked her to marry him and follow him to Okinawa and much to the surprise of everyone, Ann agreed and they were married thirty days later. They were blessed with two children, Sandra (Michael) Bethany and John Scott (Amanda) Nethero. They were again blessed with three grandchildren, Kaitlyn Bethany, Aaron Nethero and Jillian Nethero.

John's military career took them to Okinawa during the height of the Vietnam War. As a Captain in the United States Air Force, John flew C-130's on highly classified missions that were critical to the war efforts. Many of these stories and missions have never been shared amongst the family, but we have no doubt the valor he showed played a significant role in the war effort.

Upon their return to the States they moved to Little Rock, Arkansas and Monument, Colorado, before settling in Clinton, Mississippi where John began his career in home building. His career took them to Orlando, Florida, Plano, Texas, Moorpark, California and then back to Florida, finally settling in Clermont.

If you knew John, you knew he would never retire. He continued to work as a Realtor and stayed engaged within the community up until his final moments. Colleagues will tell you there will never be another John Nethero and they often think of his "Johnisms" when they need a smile.

We encourage everyone to grab a handful of peanut M&M's, throw on your favorite aviator sunglasses and remember the man that brought so much joy into the world he lived in.
