John Patrick Hackett, 86, of Clermont, FL passed away on January 27, 2026, surrounded by loved ones.

Born in Philadelphia, PA on August 15, 1939, he was the son of John and Elizabeth Hackett.  John graduated from Williamson College of the Trades in 1960 after which he enlisted in the Army National Guard.  John served from 1961 to 1967 as a Tank Crewman completing his reserve duty as a Staff Sergeant. John spent his career in telecommunications retiring from AT&T in 1998.  His career took him many places, moving from Pennsylvania to New Jersey to Illinois, where his children were raised, then on to Georgia. Finally, he was sent to manage a project in England where he met his wife Veronica. John and Veronica were married in 1998. John was an avid golfer, which prompted his retirement to Florida. John loved genealogy and spent many years learning about his ancestry.

John was a quiet force of kindness always willing to lend a helping hand whenever needed.

He is survived by his beloved wife Veronica; Sister Judith; his children, Alan, Karen and Jennifer and his grandchildren, Cheyenne, Sierra, Charlotte and Samantha. He was preceded in death by his mother and father and Sisters Elizabeth and Kathleen.

A celebration of life will be held at a future date.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Cornerstone Mike Conley Hospice House, Clermont, FL
