John Arruda, 90, of Clermont, FL passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, December 20, 2023. He is survived by his devoted wife of 69 years, Claudette (Michaud) Arruda.

John was born in Fall River, MA, son of the late John and Marie (Monis) Arruda.  He served in the Navy during the Korean conflict from 1950 to 1954.  After returning from the war, John married Claudette and went back to school to earn his college degree.  He graduated summa cum laude in 1962 from the University of Massachusetts - Dartmouth, at which time they were raising two children in Fall River, MA.

After graduation from college, John was hired to work for Raytheon in Human Resources where he worked for 27 years retiring as a Human Resources Executive.  John worked in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia for five years, which provided him and Claudette the opportunity to travel to Egypt, Cypress and many countries in Europe.  After retiring, John and Claudette moved to Ocala, FL, finally settling in Clermont, FL where they have resided for the past 29 years.

John was an avid golfer, and, after many years of playing, got a hole in one, which was a very happy day for him.  In addition to golf, he was a huge fan of the Boston Red Sox. He enjoyed traveling, especially cruising, and had a fondness for horses, having grown up on a farm in Fall River, MA.

He was the beloved father of three children, David and wife Diane of Palmetto, FL., Wayne and wife Donna of Somerset, MA, and predeceased by his daughter Cheryl (Arruda) Botelho wife of James Botelho of Mineral Bluffs, GA.  He will be sadly missed by his five loving grandchildren, James and Aaron Botelho, Neil, Kevin and Samuel Arruda, plus his two great grandchildren Brayden and Kaitlyn Arruda.
