He was born on July 15, 1946 in Houston Texas to Jesse C Dickerson, Sr and his wife Mary. He had one older brother Joe, two older sisters, Rosa and Beverly and one younger sister Jackie.
He was married to Audrey E Heath on August 25, 1973. They were married for 42 years, 2 months and 22 days. Together they raised 3 daughters, Dawn Eileen, Heather Mary and Jessica Heath. Dawn has 3 children Jaxon Richard, Corinne Eileen and Calvin Paul. Dawn is married to Ron Wagner.
Jesse attended Los Angeles City College and was drafted into the Viet Nam war, serving from February 1967 to December 1972. Jesse was "in country" from 2/67 to 2/68. The remainder of his enlistment he spent in temporary duty assignments in Southeast Asia. He received 8 medals and/or commendations for service to his country. He was a blood donor during his time in the service until his medical retirement.
Upon discharge from the Air Force, he returned to Houston using the GI bill to complete his undergraduate education at the University of Houston. He was employed by the Veterans Hospital from 1972 until 2005 when he became ill taking a medical retirement. During his employment he was promoted 6 times, moving 4 times to accept a promotion. He lived in retirement with his wife until his death. He enjoyed war movies, travel and being with friends.
