Jerry J. Pyle, Sr., 80, of Clermont, FL passed away Monday, November 7, 2011 at home under the care of Hospice. Jerry was born on March 11, 1931 in Acmar, AL, the son of Hardy and Essie Taylor. Jerry was a resident of Clermont since 1999 and Central Florida since December of 1970. He was a retired Orange County Sheriff and also served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Jerry was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Clermont. He was also a member of the Shriners, Masons, Fraternal Order of Police, Cher-O-Creek Intra Tribal Indians and a former longtime member of the Pine Castle United Methodist Church, Orlando, FL.
Jerry is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Joan; children, Jerry J. Pyle, Jr. and Daniel Wayne Pyle both of Clermont and Ellen Denise Alexander of Riverview, FL; siblings, Kathryn Edwards of Riverdale, GA and Roddy Pyle of Nashville, TN; 6 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.
A Celebration of Mr. Pyle's life will be held at 3PM Thursday, November 10, 2011 at the First United Methodist Church, Clermont. Reverend Doug Kokx officiating.
