Jeanette D. Bridges

February 27, 1953 - August 25, 2021

Jennie Bridges, beloved wife, mother, sister, and aunt passed away while surrounded by family at Orlando Health Dr. P. Phillips Hospital on August 25th, 2021 at 2:57 PM having lost her battle with COVID-19.  She was born in McCormick, SC to Thomas W. and Lillie Bell Dorn on February, 27th, 1953 and later raised by her step-father Layard Durham and Lillie Bell.  She married Edward Bridges on April, 20th 1972 and they raised their two boys, Eric Nicholas Bridges and Mathew Ryan Bridges in Clermont, FL.

In a letter Jennie left for her family she said, "You all have made my life wonderful!".  Jennie lived her life for her boys and her husband and made sure everyone in her life knew how proud she was of her family.  She was a mother figure to most anyone's children she was around and, having no grandchildren of her own, a grandmother to all the babies in her circle.  Jennie was not a regular member of any congregation but had an enormous faith and love for God and spoke of Him often.

Preceded in death by her sisters Juanita Gilstrap, Ruth Henderson, and Carolyn Edmunds.  She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Ed; her two sons, Eric & Mat; sisters, Amanda Clem, Jacqueline (Jacque) Tice, Michelle Willis, and MaryAnn Langley Walker; brothers Thomas (Junior) Dorn, James Dorn, and Kenneth Dorn; her twin sister Jacque's children Chris Lee, Stella (Dawn) Lee, and Chad Tice which she saw as her children as well; and dozens of nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews and many other loved ones.

Jennie will be laid to rest on September, 11th 2021 at Green Pond Baptist Church.  There will be viewing and visitation at 10 AM, service at 11 AM, and burial at 12 PM.  The family asks that guests follow all CDC masking guidelines for the services.  Flowers may be sent to Becker's Funeral Home at 806 W Minneola Ave, Clermont, FL 34711.
