Mrs. Janet Leiter Hoskinson, age 81 of Clermont passed away on Thursday, January 23, 2025 at the Mike Conley Hospice House after a series of strokes.
Janet was born June 9th, 1943, in Battle Creek Michigan to Eugene Milo Leiter and Berniece Stiffler Leiter. She was a member of The Living Hope Church of Clermont Florida. Janet was married to Charles Byron Beals who together raised their four children. After the untimely death of Charles Beals on March 12th, 1995, Janet married James (Jim) Merle Hoskinson Sr as they entered retirement, enjoying and appreciating each other greatly. After Jim's death on April 20th, 2005, Janet found a friend and Partner in Colonel Harold Cummings. At age 76 Janet took on the responsibility of raising a one-year-old, newly adopted son (previous great grandson), Jeremy Marion Beals. She loved and nurtured that young boy for the last 5 years of her life. She found great comfort in her Kiwanis family through the friendship, leadership, and service of this great organization. Janet's career through chronological order of her life included banking, raising four children, high school math teacher, banking, retirement, and raising an infant to childhood.
In addition to her parents, Janet was preceded in death by a daughter, Marian B. Wilson, her first husband, Charles B. Beals, her second husband James M. Hoskinson Sr, her partner Colonel Harold Cummings, a sister, Barbara Bee Leiter, and two brothers. Robert C. Leiter and Douglas E. Leiter.
Survivors include her adopted son, Jeremy Marion Beals of the home, daughter, Alice Beals of Clermont, son, Frank Beals and wife Lisa Beals of State Road, NC, son John Beals and wife Catie Spicer of Pine Hills, FL, honorary daughter, Christina Milborne of Bay Lake, FL, brother, Don Leiter and wife Georgene of Tallahassee, FL, sister Joyce LaMontagne and husband Jerry LaMontagne of Godley, TX, grandchildren, Justin Wilson of Clermont, Brock Wilson of Clermont, Courtney Beals of Athens GA, Cameron Beals of Jonesville, NC, Chandler Ann Beals of Chapel Hill, NC, Pamela Spicer of Philadelphia, PA and great grandchildren, Bella Wilson of Clermont, and River Wilson of Clermont and many other extended family members.
A funeral service will be conducted on Saturday, February 1st, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. at Living Hope Church with Rev. Dawn Carter officiating. The family will receive friends following the service in the fellowship hall below the church.
