Jane Newton, 73, of Clermont, FL passed away Thursday, January 17, 2019 at home under the care of Hospice.  Jane was born on May 31, 1945 in Orlando, FL, daughter of James E. and Dorothy (nee Jones) Staples.  She was a resident of Clermont for the past 25 years, previously living in Dade City, FL.

Jane was a graduate of Winter Park High School where she started dating her late husband Dr. Stephen E. Newton and they married shortly after high school.   Jane was an accomplished artist, specializing in pottery and painting and some of her pottery was displayed on Winter Park Avenue   She also participated in the Winter Park Arts Festival for many years.  She also enjoyed and had a talent for gardening as evidenced by her yard which was honored many times by the Clermont Garden Club.

Jane is survived by her loving children, John Newton of Bradenton, FL and Megan Naile of Clermont, FL; sisters, Pat McNabb of Clermont and Barbara Sandborne of Tampa, FL; grandchildren, Ethan, Evan and Ella Jane Naile and Kristin Blommel.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Stephen E. Newton in 2017 and her son Troy Allen Newton in 2009.
