IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Jane Elmore
Jones
July 4, 1925 – February 5, 2026
Jane Elmore Jones, 100, of Clermont, Florida, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 5, 2026, surrounded by loving family and friends. Born on July 4, 1925, in Cincinnati, Ohio, to Paul and Dorah Elmore, Jane married the love of her life, Dallas Wayne Jones, in 1944. Together they built a life rooted in love, hard work and happiness.
Jane was many things to many people—mom, aunt, grandma, great-grandma, and even great-great-grandma—but above all, she was a kind and gentle soul. She never spoke ill of anyone—a testament to her remarkable character.
Though she lost her beloved husband in December 2010, Jane continued to live a life filled with family, love and gratitude. She was also preceded in death by her parents, her sister Martha McDaniel (Robert), and her brother Robert Elmore.
In the 1960s, alongside her husband and business partner Don Bloebaum, Jane helped build
Dal-Don Produce, which quickly became one of the leading watermelon producers in the country. In 2015, she proudly attended the ceremony in New Orleans to celebrate Dallas being inducted into the inaugural class of the National Watermelon Hall of Fame, with all her sons by her side. The challenges of the watermelon industry never shook Jane’s humility, graciousness, or kind spirit—a true example for all who knew her.
Today, Jane is remembered for her legacy:
She lived 100 full years. Each time age challenged her with another loss, she found something else good to live for and ways to adapt to the challenge – perhaps her secret to a long and wonderful life.
Jane’s legacy lives on through her family:
She is also survived by a cherished family friend who became like a daughter to her, Shirley King-Frey (Richard); numerous nephews and nieces, including her loving nephew, Mike McDaniel (Melissa); and her loving niece, Patricia McDaniel Kuntz (Hal), who fondly shared, “Aunt Jane was fun and quick to laugh—she had a wonderful sense of humor!”
The family would like to express their deep gratitude to Jane’s beloved caretakers over the past three years, Ms. Corretta Walker, Ms. Nikki Moody and Ms. Tina Page, whose love, compassion and dedication meant so much to her—and to all of us.
Jane Jones will be remembered by so many, but her true legacy lies in the love she gave, the family she built, and the lives she touched. That legacy will continue to live on in all who were blessed to know her. In the words of her granddaughter, Dallas Jones, “Grandma is dancing with Grandpa” in heaven now.
Jane lived her life by a very strict code: “No births, no marriages, and no deaths during watermelon season”, a rule she expected all of us to follow, whether we liked it or not. She honored that code faithfully to the very end, even orchestrating things so we could celebrate her life before the melons had a chance to escape the vine this season.
Visitation hours will be held at Becker Funeral Home in Clermont, Florida, from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 1, 2026, with a celebration of life honoring Jane immediately following at 3:00pm. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Cornerstone Hospice House in memory of Jane and Dallas Jones: https://wl.donorperfect.net/weblink/weblink.aspx?name=E346236&id=2
