James "Jim" Crowley, born May 25, 1962, passed away at his home in Clermont, FL on August 31, 2020. In his personal life, Jim was an avid fisherman, while he was not using his boat to fish he would be out on the lake pulling the tube or tubes filled with his kids, nieces, nephews and/or any of their friends who were daring enough to take a wild and fun ride with him. He was a passionate and great cook, he loved to travel with his family; many times bringing back recipe ideas, foods, and spices to create new meals. He also loved sharing his delicious meals at family gatherings. He particularly loved to travel to his grandparent's home country of Ireland. Jim started his career as an officer in 1985; wrapping up his career with the Orange County Sheriff's Department with whom he served for over a dozen years. During his years with the Orange County Sheriff's Department he, alongside his partners earned the Medal of Merit for saving a woman and her child. In addition to being a Deputy Sheriff he was also a stay at home dad and the personal chauffeur to his daughter and son taking them to their multiple after school activities. "Death leaves a heartache no one can heal; Love leaves a memory no one can steal."
Jim is survived by his wife, Memory Elizabeth Deffebach Crowley; his children, Bree Crowley (Ami) and Michael Matulewicz-Crowley (David); and his siblings, Kevin Crowley (Mel) Veronica Radford (Steve), Patricia Crowley, Thomas Crowley (Debra), and Frank Crowley, his sibling in-laws Jamie Warshowsky (Jay), Bud Deffebach (Kim). He also leaves behind three grandsons Justus, Quentin, and Declan whom he loved very much. Additionally he left behind many nieces and nephews. Jim was preceded in death by his father Thomas Francis Crowley, his mother Mary Patricia Brehney Crowley, his brother Dennis Crowley, and his sister Theresa Crowley Howell preceded him in death.
A celebration of life will be held for family and close friends of the family on Saturday, September 5, 2020, from 3:00 pm to 4:00 pm at Becker Funeral Home in Clermont Fl.
