Obituary

James (Jim) Heyworth Smith of Clermont, FL passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on May 4th, 2024.  He was 80 years old.

Born and raised in Lynn Massachusetts, he excelled in band while graduating from Lynn English. He raised a family with his beloved wife, the late Pauline Smith, in Plymouth, MA, as he worked for the USPS as a letter carrier for 34 years. In his retirement he relocated to Central Florida and worked as a guest greeter at Walt Disney World for 17 years. He will be remembered for his humor, his spontaneous comments and his love for chatting.  Jim was a trombone player in his high school band and carried the love of classical music his whole life. Growing up on the North Shore, Jim was a big fan of the Boston sports teams. He enjoyed his job with the post office where he delivered mail to Quincy residents for over 30 years. He survived a major heart attack at the age of 47. In the years following, he survived stage 4 melanoma, a roll over car accident, and a serious bout with blood clots.

He enjoyed being a father and grandfather. To his last breath and beyond he loved his wife of 47 years. He leaves behind two sons Todd Smith of Clermont, FL and Sean Smith of Holden, MA and a daughter Kimberly Hoffman of Marshfield, MA. He also leaves behind two grandsons, Brandon and Logan, one granddaughter, Emily, daughter-in-law's Janine Smith and Sandi Davel and son-in-law Karl Hoffman. He also leaves behind his ever faithful dog Maggie.
