James Phillip Pegg's Obituary

James Phillip “Jim” Pegg, 89, of Minneola, Florida, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on February 16, 2026. He passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his loving family, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Jim was born in Wabash, Indiana. From an early age, his faith in Jesus was the foundation of his life and guided the path he walked. He graduated from Andrews High School and attended Purdue University before proudly enlisting in the United States Air Force, where he served for four years. His time in the service reflected both his love of country and his desire to live out his faith with integrity and commitment. Afterward, he completed his education at Indiana Wesleyan University, continuing to build a life rooted in faith, learning, and service.

Jim dedicated his career to shaping young lives as a Boy Scout Executive, mentoring and encouraging youth with the same steady guidance and Christ-centered values that defined his own life. He was also an active member of the Rotary Club, always seeking ways to serve others and reflect the love of Jesus in his community.

A man of adventure and gratitude for God’s creation, Jim was an avid morel mushroom hunter and passionate outdoorsman. He found great joy in nature, seeing it as a testament to the beauty and handiwork of the Lord. He also earned his private pilot’s license, embracing the wonder of flight and the freedom of the open sky.

Above all, Jim was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. His greatest testimony was the quiet, steadfast way he loved his family and lived out his faith daily. He is survived by his beloved wife, June Pegg, his daughter, Gina Blomstrom (Eric); his son, Tony Pegg (Brenda); his grandsons, Phillip Pegg, Andrew Pegg, and Matthew Pegg; his sister, Ruth Walker; and many other cherished relatives and friends.

Jim’s life was a reflection of his deep love for Jesus. His family finds comfort in knowing that he is now at peace in the presence of his Savior. He will be remembered for his unwavering faith, his servant’s heart, his love of the outdoors, and the strong, gentle spirit he shared with all who knew him.

“Well done, good and faithful servant.” — Matthew 25:23
