James Murrel Parks, 87, Polk City, passed away March 6, 2011 at his residence. He was born January 23, 1924 in Davy, WV son of James Franklin Parks and Bessie Beatrice Cummings Parks. He was a US Army WWII veteran and retired from Publix as a store manager. His wife Doris F. Parks preceded him in death in 2004 as did his granddaughter Kelly E. Parks in 1996. He was a member of Grand Highway Baptist Church in Clermont. Surviving are his children Bill Douglas (Sandra) Parks, Bushnell; Gary Don (Carol) Parks, Clermont; Rhetta Sue (Roy) Holland, Polk City; 4 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren and siblings Sonny Parks, Pineville, WV and Patty Raines, Robson, WV.
The funeral service for James Parks wil be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, March 11, 2011 at the graveside in Oak Hill Cemetery in Clermont. Pastor Casey Ferguson and Pastor Joel Shackleford will officiate. The family suggests memorial contributions to American Cancer Society, American Kidney Association or Cornerstone Hospice.
