James Eleby Lester, 86, Clermont, passed away December 29, 2013 at South Lake Hospital. He was born December 24, 1927 in Quincy, FL son of Nina Weatherly & Robert B. Lester. He served in the US Navy and was a local resident since the early '70. He was active in his church, First United Methodist Church of Clermont where he sang in the choir, worked various committees & mission projects both at home & away & visiting both new & sick members. He also participated in "Walk to Emmaus" and was a member of Clermont Kiwanis Club. Surviving is his wife Elaine; children Patti (Jeff) Young, Madison, GA & Pam (Rob) Green, Charlotte, NC; grandchildren Andy & Adam Nave, Matthew & Mason Green & Dara Young; step children Corrine (Charlie) Garrett, Tavares & Les (Kim) Baron, Baltimore, MD; sisters Nina Jean Freeman & Frances Butler; 4 great-grandchildren & numerous nieces & nephews. The memorial service for Jim Lester will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, January 2 , 2014 at First United Methodist Church. Reverend Dawn Fryman & Reverend Gary Edwards will officiate. The family suggests memorial contributions to the church or to a charity of choice.
