James Louis Inman, a devoted husband, proud father, doting grandfather, and loyal friend, passed away in the comfort of his own home October 23, 2025 with his family close by.
James was born July 20, 1949 in Ithica, NY, the son of Elizabeth (Betty) and Franklin H. Inman. He graduated from Moravia Central High School in 1967 and earned his Bachelor's degree from Old Dominion University in Norfolk, VA in 1974.
The embodiment of the phrase " Jack of all trades ", he was a man of endless creativity, intelligence, and humor. Though he may not have always found the words to express his emotions, his actions spoke volumes. His kindness, dedication, strength and faith were all evident in every part of his life. In 1976 James married Elaine D. (Deane) Inman. They were happily married for 49 years and had two amazing children, Eric and Amy. He encouraged his children to dream big and persevere through every challenge.
Jim served his country with pride as a Civil Engineer for the Department of Defense, providing his family with stability and a life built of hard work and integrity. He retired from the Federal Government in 2006, after 32 years, and settled in SW Florida. in 2019 he and Elaine moved up to Clermont, Florida to be closer to family and spend more time as Papa with his adored granddaughters.
Stubborn, yet brave, James faced cancer with unwavering courage and determination. Through his resilience, he taught us all that life is what you make it. - to take the good with the bad, to never despair over what cannot be change, trust in the Lord, and to never, ever give up.
James was preceded to Heaven by his father, mother and older brother. He is survived by his wife, Elaine D. Inman; his son, Eric Franklin Inman and His wife Kelly K. Inman; his daughter, Amy Diane Inman and her spouse, Jacqueline (Jackee) Atelevich; and his sister Patrcia (Inman) Sherk.
