Obituary

James "Scotty" Schultz, born on Friday, October 30, 1942 in Bronx, New York and passed away on  Wednesday, May 7, 2014 in Clermont, Florida. Employment: Walt Disney World, retired: Bell South/American Telephone and Telegraph, retired; US Navy/US Navy Reserve, retired. Passions: His family and friends, Game Night with his sons, Moonlight Players Warehouse Theater, Clermont-Minneola Little League Baseball, Online gaming with his friends and family, collecting art featuring his favorite animal the American Buffalo and working in his garden. Scotty was: First and foremost a family man. He was loved dearly by his wife. In turn he never stopped showing her his love. He strived to make life as uncomplicated and burden free for her as possible. His children, grandchildren and great-grand children were an enormous joy to him. He tried to do everything in his power to help them and love them. A Friend. His friends were a highly prized part of his life. He loved mingling with them sharing laughter and politics, memories and dreams of the future. As he grew older his friends were also a great source of comfort and distraction from his pain. Proud of his Careers. He proudly served in the US Navy and US Navy Reserve. Of all the jobs he ever had (and he delighted in saying he had worked since he was 12 years old) his Naval Career was his favorite. His second favorite job was working for Disney' Hollywood Studios, Walt Disney World. He enjoyed working with the Guests, endeavoring to add "magic" to their visits. He was also very happy when he escorted our friends and family into the parks. He had as much fun showing them Walt Disney World as they did visiting WDW. Committed to the community in his chosen activities. From the time his boys were old enough to play sports he was involved in Little League Baseball. He derived great pleasure in managing his teams. Whether they won or loss he was always there to support and encourage them. Moonlight Players was both a community service endeavor and a passion for him. From helping with set construction and performing in Moonlight' first production of The Man of La Mancha in 1998, he was hooked. He has acted, directed, assistant directed, stage managed, done various tech jobs and served on Moonlight' Board of Directors. He also had great fun driving Moonlight' entry in Clermont' "Light Up Clermont Parade" the past 3 years. Family: Scotty is survived by his wife, Doris, children Joseph, Craig, Zina, Scott, Shawn, 7 grandchildren and 1 (soon to be 2) great-grandchildren. Memorial: A celebration of his life will be held at: Moonlight Players Warehouse Theater, 5:30 PM, Wednesday, May 14, 2014, at 732-B Montrose Street, Clermont, Florida, 34711. Please remember Scotty hated suits and ties so, gentlemen, in remembrance of him, please attend in casual attire. A reception will follow at the home of Cathy McEachern. Please contact Cathy at 407-247-2207 or Beth Fisher at 352-250-7503 for more details. Inurnment: Burial will be at Florida National Cemetery, 11:00 AM, Thursday, May 15, 2014 at 6502 SW 102nd Avenue, Bushnell, Florida, 33513. Please contact Becker Funeral Home at 352-394-7121 for questions. Being buried in a military cemetery will give Scotty great joy, for that was his fondest wish. (The funeral procession will leave the funeral home at 10:00 AM). Flowers: In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation be made to Moonlight Players toward their Building Fund. Please note his name on all donations. Scotty was a strong advocate of Moonlight' Building Fund. He delighted at improvements made to our present location and shared the dream of Moonlight Players eventually having their own building. If flowers are the gift of choice, they can be sent to the theatre and will displayed at Scotty' Celebration of Life and burial. BECKER FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, Clermont, FL 34711.
