In Loving Memory of James "Jim" Gaudlip

James "Jim" Gaudlip, a devoted husband, loving father, and proud grandfather, passed away on August 13, 2023, at the age of 82. Jim's life journey, filled with dedication and love, touched the hearts of many.

Jim was born on January 3, 1941, in Jerome, Pennsylvania, to parents of Joseph Sr. Gaudlip and Catherine Cadwallader – Gaudlip.  He spent his formative years in this close-knit community. He attended Conemaugh Township High School, where he forged lifelong friendships.

In 1959, Jim answered the call to serve his country and joined the United States Army. He was deployed primarily in Germany during his service, where he demonstrated unwavering dedication to his duty and made a lifelong commitment to support his fellow military service members. His service to his country was a point of pride throughout his life.

Upon his honorable discharge from the Army, Jim returned to his hometown of Jerome, where he met and married Mary Ann Poznanski. Their union was blessed with two children, Chris and Celeste, who were the center of their world.

After working for Bethlehem Steel for many years, Jim and Mary Ann decided to embark on a new chapter in their lives and moved to the sunshine state of Florida in 1983. Jim initially worked as a Supervisor at Wellcraft Marine. Later, he joined the Florida Prison system as a Correctional Officer, dedicating himself to maintaining safety and order within the correctional facilities.

Jim's true passion, however, was his family. He cherished every moment spent with his beloved grandchildren: Ashley, Gabriel, Julian, and Viviana, finding immense joy in their laughter and milestones. His wisdom, warmth, and guidance will forever be treasured by his family.

Apart from his family, Jim had a deep passion for hunting with his son and beloved k9 companion Coco. Whether he was in the woods tracking game or sharing hunting stories with friends, his love for the outdoors and hunting was a significant part of his life.

Jim is survived by his devoted wife of 61 years, Mary Ann, his loving children, Chris and Celeste Gaudlip – Carr; and his adored grandchildren. He leaves behind a legacy of love, service, and dedication that will continue to inspire and uplift those who knew him.

At Jim's request there will be no service.  He only asked to support your Veterans, Police and First Responders with your generosity.  He is survived by his sister Kathleen of Jerome PA: his sister Barbara of Springfield VA and his brother John (Jack) of Hooversville PA.  Preceded in death by his brothers Joseph Jr., David Sr. and sisters Alberta and Patricia.

Jim's passing leaves a void that can never be filled, but his memory will live on in the hearts of his family and friends. He will be remembered for his unwavering love, his commitment to service, and his zest for life. May he rest in eternal peace.
