James Emory Gant
1942-2012
It is almost guaranteed that you knew James (Jim) Gant. Jim never knew a stranger and called everyone a friend. Jim was a genuinely loving, kind and generous man who will be missed by all.
Jim was born November 8, 1942. He was raised in Dade City. Jim received his Masters Degree from University of Florida and will undoubtedly have the angels doing the gator chomp! Jim worked 30 years for Lake County Schools and was a positive role model to countless young students. Jim was a vital member of the community in many ways, including: a lifetime member of the South Lake Rotary, member of the Gideons, board member of The Green Isle Children's Ranch, recipient of The Gem of the Hills award and recipient of numerous service and community involvement awards and recognitions.
Jim died peacefully on Thursday morning, February 9, 2012. He is preceded in death by his daughter Mandy, sister, Beth LoCascio and parents Emory and Dorothy. He is mourned by his wife Susan, their daughter, Andi Lambert, son-in-law Nathan and grandsons, Carter and Ryland; daughter Ashley Worsham, son-in-law Eric and grandson Easton; sister Carolyn Hudson, brother-in-law Mike and nephews Andrew and Adam; nephews Samuel LoCascio and Logan Ernst and niece Julianna LoCascio.
All who wish to join the family in remembering Jim Gant may do so at Becker Funeral Home on Saturday, February 11 from 5-7 pm. A graveside service will be held at the Gillett Loyce Cemetery in Masaryktown on Sunday February 12 at 2pm.
