Obituary
Ernie Edmundson, 70, of Groveland, FL passed away on April 18, 2018. Ernie was born on June 27, 1947 in Bushnell, FL, son of John B. and Jeanette Edmundson. He was a man who devoted his life to his family and his community, an avid gardener who shared the fruits of his labor with his family and neighbors, always enjoyed being on the water fishing with his boys and grandkids and was an animal lover who enjoyed his miniature donkeys. Ernie's warmth, booming laugh and loyalty will be missed by the many hearts and lives he's touched.
He attended and graduated from Rollins College with a Bachelor's in Criminal Justice. He retired as an Officer from the Orlando Police Department after 20 years of service, serving as a detective and a member of the original International Drive Unit. He also retired as a Sergeant with the Orange County Sheriff's Office, assigned to the courthouse, after 17 years of service. He was a long time member of the Florida Miniature Donkey Association. Ernie was a founding member of the Men's Bible Study Group at First United Methodist Church in Clermont, which has been going strong for the last 16 years.
Ernie is survived by his wife, Jan Edmundson. They have been married for 38 years and have lived a full life together. They have enjoyed raising their boys, farming, and chatting with neighbors daily. They took long weekend getaways with their friends Gary and Pam. He was always occupied with grandkids and their many activities, he tried to never miss an event.
He is survived by his sons James Edmundson and wife Terri, Michael Edmundson and wife Laura, Richard Edmundson and wife Jennifer. Ernie is also survived by grandsons Austin and Kayden, granddaughters Brittany, Kimmie, Julie and Jeanne and great-grandson Alex. He is also survived by his brother, John Edmundson and wife Mary.
Ernie's Celebration of Life will be held on April 28, 2018 at 3:00pm at the First United Methodist Church of Clermont, 950 7th St., Clermont FL 34711. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to either Lake County 4H or South Lake Wrestling Academy. Send donations to James Edmundson, 371 Sloans Ridge Rd., Groveland, FL 34736.
