Obituary

James Richard Dyer, born at home on October 28, 1934 in Redford Township, Michigan, passed peacefully in his Clermont residence on December 20, 2017, after long term medical complications.

Jim was a graduate of Washington University and a retired Architect.  Although being from Michigan, he spent over half of his life in Florida, a state he loved.  He was a fifty-year Mason and member of Groveland Masonic Lodge, Past Master of Farmington Masonic Lodge, Past Patron of Mount Dora Order of Eastern Star, former DeMolay Advisory Board in Delray-Seacrest, Winter Park and Lake Sumter Chapters in Florida and Past Chapter Dad for Farmington Chapter in Michigan.  Former Advisory Board Member for the International Order of Rainbow for Girls Northville Assembly in Michigan, Delray Assembly, Orange Assembly and Mount Dora Assembly in Florida.  Definitely a labor of love as Jim worked over 40 years with Masonic Youth Groups spanning from 1967 to 2015.

Jim was a kind and loving man, always willing to help where needed.  He enjoyed working in the construction industry and was involved with some very notable projects during his Architectural career.  Being sort of a character himself, he was best known in both business and personal life for his numerous character ties.  Jim enjoyed Cornish pasties, ice cream and of course his favorite was chocolate.  He also enjoyed photography and working on classic cars, but his main love was his growing family.  Being married twice, he was blessed with six children and twelve grandchildren, and although there being some distance, he loved them all very dearly.  To this day many of his children's friends loved him as a second Dad and sought him out for advice and counsel, especially when engineering bottle towers.

James Richard Dyer was predeceased by his parents, Percy and Louise (Treloar) Dyer, brother-in-law and sister Melvin and Mary Louise (Dyer) Rhodes.  He is survived by his wife Debra (Dobek) Dyer, children Robert and Laurie (Dyer) Lowry, Richard Dyer, Drew and Janet (Dyer) LeBlanc, James II and Debra (Wirtz) Dyer, Riley and Barbara (Dyer) Giddens, John and Katherine (Dyer) Gottlieb, Grandchildren Charles Lowry, Tyler and Sarah (Lowry) Day, Nicholas Dyer, Ashley Dyer, Noah Johnson, Jace Gottlieb, Jade Gottlieb, Kristopher Mock II, Ella Dyer, Jonathan Giddens, Matthew Giddens and Katharine Giddens.
