IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Jacquelyn Sue
Broome
November 5, 1947 – October 21, 2025
October 21, 2025, Jacquelyn "Jackie" Sue Broome, 77, of Windermere, FL, passed away peacefully at Advent Health Orlando with her son Jacob, daughter-in-law Elaine, and three grandchildren Pierce, Carter, and Shanna by her side. Early that afternoon, she went home to meet her Heavenly Father.
Jackie was born on November 5th, 1947, to Jack and Patricia Keating in South Bend, IN. After Jackie graduated from Central High School in 1965, she went on to earn a bachelor's degree from Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana. Upon graduation, she started her first job at Emory Hospital in Atlanta as a physical therapist, kickstarting a 40-plus-year career in healthcare.
In 1970, Jacquelyn met David in Indianapolis. They went on to fall in love and have two children, Jacob and Wendy. Jacquelyn lived her life with a sparkle of curiosity, a phone always nearby, and a pug (or two) never far from her side. She had a special knack for solving crime—well, at least the kind that unfolded on her favorite TV dramas—and if she wasn't cracking a fictional case, she was tackling a crossword puzzle with her online crew, proving her brain was as quick as her wit. Jacquelyn adored spending time with her grandchildren, who kept her young at heart and on her toes, and she never missed a chance to spoil her loved ones with thoughtful shopping finds—sometimes even things they didn't know they needed! A good book, a great movie, a heartfelt chat, and Sunday mornings at church rounded out her favorite things.
She was the kind of person who could make anyone feel seen, heard, and probably a little bit loved. Compassionate and empathetic to her core, she had a heart big enough to hold her family, friends, patients, and every pug she ever met. She was generous and thoughtful, with a streak of sass and stubbornness that kept life interesting. Her quirky humor could light up a room, and her curiosity about people's stories made everyone feel like the main character in her favorite show. As a devoted physical therapist, Jacquelyn poured her energy into helping others heal, not just their bodies but their spirits too. Loyal, forgiving, and endlessly patient (especially with her beloved grandchildren and her dogs), she lived to make people happy—and she did, every single day, in ways that will never be forgotten.
As mentioned above, Jackie's family included many canine family members she loved and cared for throughout the years who always brought a smile to her face, including Keating, her and David's first pet, Ted and Fred the cockapoos, and several beloved pugs: Maggie, Bit, Pawky, Bogey, Max, and Amos.
Jackie was predeceased by her father Jack Keating, her mother Patricia Keating, and her husband David Broome. She is survived by her son Jacob and his wife Elaine, daughter
Wendy, three grandchildren—Shanna, Pierce, and Carter (Jacob & Elaine's children), sister Patricia and brother-in-law Rick Rice, as well as several nephews and nieces.
