Jack Ulch; Born August 8, 1940 in North Baltimore, Ohio passed away on July 14, 2016.
His family moved to the small Midwestern town of Harrison, Michigan when he was 14. It was there that he helped his parents Jack and Leah build and run Ulch's Motel. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He met and married his high school sweetheart and lifelong partner, Jacqueline Marie with whom he enjoyed 57 years.
Jack served 3 years in the US Navy as a Hospital Corpsman in Corpus Christi, Texas. He served as Head Corpsman on the critical care unit, receiving several commendations for his work with burn patients. Sons Michael and Matthew were born during his service years. Jack and Jackie then returned to Harrison to raise a family. Their family was complete when daughter Janine was born in 1963.
Jack was very active in his children's sports interests including coaching Little League, supporting and serving as President of the local booster club and was active in the Jaycees. They spent many a cold night running the concession stand during football games. To support his family he worked building and installing commercial signs and repairing and selling snowmobiles during the winter months.
Jack and Jackie decided they were tired of the cold of central Michigan and moved their family to Clermont, Florida in 1977. They purchased Lake Susan Lodge, a fish camp, and built it into a thriving family business. He jokingly claimed to be the only certified Ski-Doo mechanic in the state, but also had the skills to repair boats and many other things. He truly was a "Jack of all Trades".
Jack was always willing to lend a hand and his skills to assist the Clermont Beta Theta Sorority and other local charities to build a float or back drop for community events.
He enjoyed fishing, dancing, playing Pinochle, singing, feeding the neighborhood dogs and visiting with his neighbors. Many summers were spent at their second home in Bryson City, North Carolina, where he enjoyed hiking, boating, country music festivals, entertaining friends and family and escaping the Florida heat.
He was a fiercely patriotic, God-fearing Father, Husband, Grandfather, Great-Grandfather and Brother who was happiest when surrounded by family. He will be greatly missed by his family and many lifelong friends.
He is survived by his loving wife Jackie, and children Michael, Matthew and Janine Kidder, two brothers Alan and Curtis of Winter Haven, FL. Eleven grandchildren and seven great-grand children.
