Iris Lama was born in the small hamlet of Bijaru; in Olguin a Province of Cuba on May 23rd, 1930.
Iris was descended from a long line of strong, powerful and persuasive women, the kind that knock you over with a feather. Iris immigrated to the United States in May of 1956, with her husband Manuel and infant daughter, Susy. In less than 5 years, she and her husband purchased their first and only home and soon after the family increased with Sandra and Manny.
She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, sister, a very creative individual whose artistic talents extended to many mediums, a talented seamstress and designer who opened her own Bridal Boutique, "Iris Novias" in Miami, Florida.
Our beloved mother has gone on to her eternal rest to join her beloved "Piro" Manuel, her parents, and adored brothers and sisters.
She is survived by her daughters, Susy Gibson, Sandra Hermens, and her son Manuel David Lama. Her sons-in-law, Steve Gibson, Robert Hermens, and Richard Yohan, were devoted to her. Her grandchildren, Tasha and Kara Yohan, Karina and Christopher Hermens, Brian and Jason Gibson, were the delight of her life.
Services for Iris Lama will be held at 1PM Saturday, February 2, 2013 at Becker Funeral Home. The family is accepting flowers or memorials in her name to the Alzheimers Organization or Our Lady of Charity, Miami, FL.
