Irene Fortin Caron, 96 years of age, passed away at the Mike Conley Hospice House in Clermont, Florida on September 30, 2024. Irene was born in Grand Isle, Maine, one of twelve children born to George and Agnes (Clavette) Fortin. Prior to moving to Clermont in 2004, Irene resided in West Hartford, CT for 50 years. Her family and faith were important to her throughout her life. Irene was an excellent seamstress and turned this talent into a small business. In her 50's she went back to school to obtain her GED diploma, of which she was quite proud of this achievement. She retired from Travelers Insurance Company and spent her retirement traveling to many areas of the world. She would often recount stories of her trips to Alaska, Hawaii, the Caribbean, and Europe. She was an avid reader and enjoyed walking daily to maintain her health and well being. She reluctantly gave up her driver's license in 2018 at the age of 90. For the past six years Irene resided at Crane's View Assisted Living where she was fortunate to remain physically and socially active.

Irene leaves her three children, Linda (Bob) Thomen and Diane Caron of Clermont, and David (Thelma) of Danvers, MA; along with her grandchildren, Robert (Jill) Thomen of Burlington, NC; Jeffrey (Eliana) Thomen of Rocky Hill, CT; Jonathan Stadig of Shrewsbury, MA and Stephanie Stadig of Hoboken, NJ; Katrina (Steve) Alex of Shapleigh, Maine and Michael Caron of California; and great-grandchildren Evan Thomen of Rocky Hill, CT, Jaxson and Carter Alex of Shapleigh, ME. She also leaves her siblings, Lucille Doucette, Aldrie, Elmer, Gilbert, Ivan, Lucien and Nelson Fortin; and Edna Deprey and Georgianne Theriault. She is predeceased by her siblings, Yvonne Rioux , Alcide and Rena Fortin, and daughter-in-law Alice Caron.

A Funeral Mass will be held at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church on Wednesday, October 16, 2024 at 1:00 pm with a private graveside service held at a later date at Rose Hill Cemetery in Rocky Hill, CT.
