Obituary

Irene Abate, born in Astoria, New York on June 2, 1929, passed away peacefully in Clermont, Florida on September 23, 2022.

While working in New York's Fashion District, she met her husband Carmen "Carl" Abate and on July 24, 1949 they were married in Bayside, New York.  In 1958 they moved to Miami, Florida where they raised their three children, Charles, Linda and Robert.  Irene and Carl had 71 wonderful years together, until his passing in September, 2020.

Family was very important to her.  She was a wonderful wife, mother and homemaker.  She was always very active in her children's school activities and church.  Irene enjoyed meeting people and spent many years as a Tupperware party planner.  In addition, she was a talented crafter and a member of the Southern Handcraft Society in South Florida, making crafts and going to craft shows.

She is survived by her son Charles, daughter, Linda Nunn and husband Tom, son Robert and wife Marsha.  Irene was a devoted grandmother to Tommy Nunn and wife Jamie and Jennifer Osorio and husband Alex.  She's survived by great grandsons Henry and Samuel Nunn and great granddaughter Amaya Osorio.  She's also survived by many cousins and friends.
