Imogene (Harris) Griffith
October 25, 1930 - May 30, 2022
Imogene was born in Corona, California to Linwood and Jewell Harris. As a child she loved singing, sketching, and writing plays. Imogene graduated from Pasadena Nazarene College and became an elementary school teacher. Her favorite grades to teach were second and third. She started her career in Monrovia, California and found her teaching home with the West Covina Unified School District where she continued to teach until her early retirement in 1988.
After retiring she moved to her favorite city, San Diego. She was involved with The Dolphins and The Elks clubs. She was an avid dancer, enjoying Square Dancing and Ballroom Dancing. Late in life she moved to Florida where she passed with family close by.
Imogene was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Hurwood Griffith. She is survived by her children, Robert Griffith, Luanne (Rick) Reid, and Steven Griffith, her grandchildren Joseph Reid, Jason (Sheila) Reid, Heather (Dustin) Kirk, Adrianna (Eric) Stalnaker, Bobby (Jenni) Scott, Michael Reid, Jeremy Scott, Ian Griffith, and Tyler (Meghan) Rau, and ten great grandchildren.
She is also survived by her sister Betty Harris and many nieces and nephews.
The family suggests in lieu of flowers, memorials be sent in Imogene's name to Feed America,
The family plans to have a private Celebration of Life at a later date.
