Herbert Margolies, March 23, 1930 – May 17, 2018
Herb Margolies, a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend passed away on Thursday, May 17, 2018 after complications from a fall.
He is survived by a very large and loving family including his wife of 61 years Connie, daughter Eva Margolies, son and daughter-in-law Gene and Laura Margolies, son Steven Margolies, son and daughter-in-law Mark and Kerry Margolies. The family also includes granddaughters Julie Margolies, Jessica and husband Luke Hoffman, Samantha and husband Matt Storch, and Bonnie Margolies; as well as two great-grandchildren, Margot Hoffman and Hannah Storch. Herb was a family man who enjoyed spending time, especially playing board games, with his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Herb was born in Brooklyn, New York and attended the Admiral Farragut Academy. He joined the Navy when he was 17 years old and following discharge from the Navy moved to Miami where he attended the University of Miami and later met his wife Connie. After several business ventures, he settled on opening an insurance agency where his wife Connie and son Mark worked. He owned Supreme Insurance Agency until he retired.
Herb and Connie shared a very special marriage. They were not only husband and wife, but they were best friends. They worked together, bowled together, played golf together and in their later years, played lots and lots of Rummikub. Following retirement, they moved to Summit Greens in 2002. Herb and Connie were active community participants. Herb was a founding member of the ROMEOs (Retired Old Men Eating Out). He also loved his Summit Green golfing buddies and looked forward to their outings at least once a week. After Herb couldn't play golf anymore, he loved watching sports of all kind.
Herb will be sadly missed by all. A private family service is being planned in the future.
