Herbert W. Burns, 82, of Winter Garden, FL passed away Friday, October 17, 2014 at home under the care of Hospice. Herbert was born on August 10, 1932 in Hoboken, NJ, the son of William H. and Frieda (nee Bedecker) Burns. He served in the U.S. Navy and retired after reaching the rank of Lieutenant. While in the Navy he served on the USS Intrepid (CV-11), USS Saratoga (CVA-60), USS Monterey (CVL-26) and the USS Bon Homme Richard (CV-31). Herbert had resided in Central Florida since 1992, previously living in Glenwood, NJ and was a member of the Community of Faith Church, Davenport, FL.
Herbert is survived by his loving wife, Mildred "Milly"; children, William Herbert Burns of Fulton, NY, Colleen (Randy Nulph) of Winter Garden, FL and April (Pete) Piziak of Winter Garden, FL; grandchildren, Angie, Craig, Brandy and Alyssa and great grandchildren, Ayden and Jovanny.
Services will be private with interment at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL.
The family suggests in lieu of flowers memorials to the American Cancer Society.
