HELGA KUNIGUNDE LUZIER
January 25, 1937—March 15, 2026
Our beloved mother, Helga Kunigunde Luzier, peacefully went home to her Lord and Savior on March 15, 2026 at the Mike Conley Hospice House in Clermont, Florida.
Helga was born in Augsburg, Germany to the late Ernst and Barbara (Haspel) Karg. She attended school in Germany and following her graduation she attended a trade school to become a seamstress. During her early adult life, Helga worked in a factory repairing nylon stockings. She met her late husband (David) while he was stationed in Germany for the United States Army. In 1963, Helga moved to the United States to marry and create a beautiful life with David. After moving around with the Military, they later rooted their family in Brandon, Florida. After raising her children, she relocated to Clermont Florida with David.
After moving to the United States, Helga focused on learning the English language to comfortably meld herself in American culture. With her deep German accent, she spoke English with an unrecognizable language barrier. Helga first job in the United States was as a seamstress, repairing clothing. She then began her career with Sears as a Display Coordinator, a job she deeply loved and was passionate about until her retirement.
Helga developed a deep passion for sewing and became an amazing quilter. She regularly attended a weekly quilting group, where she met many amazing friends. Following her husband’s passing at the Mike Conley Hospice House in 2018, she began volunteering her time and skills making Veterans quilts for the Hospice House. Helga also enjoyed knitting, crocheting, gardening, baking, and reading.
Helga is survived by her sons, Gerhard (Ute) Karg of Augsburg Germany, Stephen (Peggy) Luzier of Clermont Florida. Her stepson, Terry (Wendy) Luzier of Baton Rouge Louisiana. Grandchildren, Eva Karg, Ramona Karg, Brandyn French, Crisstofer French, Jr., Conner Luzier, Nicholas Luzier, Tiffany Veazey, and Michael Luzier, Jr. Great-grandchildren, Naima Karg, Ramon Karg, Loreal Richardson, Noah Luzier, Blayde Luzier, and Lanie Luzier. Helga is also survived by very dear friends she considered family. They are: Sarah Gottschalk, Kathy Czuprynski, Thom & Robyn Kieft (children Tyler, Ryan, and Kylie), Jim & Catherine Dougan.
Helga was predeceased by her husband, David, sons, Eugene (Gene) Luzier and Daniel Luzier, stepson, Michael Luzier, parents, Ernst and Barbara (Haspel) Karg, brothers, Rudolph Karg and Ernst Karg.
As per Helga’s wishes there will be no services. Her wishes also included to be cremated and have her urn placed in the National Cemetery in Bushnell Florida with her husband in a columbarium, which will be conducted on a private date.
In lieu of flowers, please feel free to make a donation in Helga’s memory to the Mike Conley Hospice House in Clermont, Florida.
