IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Hector Vazquez
Reyes
February 14, 1936 – August 8, 2024
Hector Luis Vazquez Reyes, affectionately known as Guichin, passed away on August 8, 2024, in Clermont, Florida, at the age of 88. He was born on February 14, 1936, in Cayey, Puerto Rico, to the late Filomeno Vazquez and Maria Palmira Reyes. Hector was the last surviving brother of five, predeceased by his brothers Adrian, Carlos, Edgardo, and William.
Hector was a proud Marine Corps veteran of the Korean Conflict, serving his country with honor from 1953 to 1957. He achieved the rank of Sergeant and was deeply proud of his service.
After his military career, Hector dedicated his life to his craft as an electrician. He was a hardheaded yet loving and charismatic man. Hector's warm smile and friendly greeting left a lasting impression on everyone he met.
A lifelong fan of baseball, Hector's love for the game began in his youth as a player and continued throughout his life as he passionately supported his beloved New York Yankees.
Hector was a devoted husband to Adriana Vazquez and a loving father to his nine children. His children include David, Daniel, and Michael from his first marriage; Hector Jr., Debra, Christine, and Cynthia from his second marriage; and Carlos and Mia from his marriage to Adriana. Hector also leaves behind numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren who will cherish his memory.
Known for his cleverness, quick wit, and unfiltered way of telling things as they were, Hector often said, "You can't bullshit a bullshit artist," a testament to his sharp mind and no-nonsense approach to life. He was always real, and that honesty is a legacy that will live on in all of us who knew and loved him.
Hector was laid to rest with military honors at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida, a fitting tribute to his service and dedication.
