Hazel Burgner Kirkland's Obituary
Hazel Burgner Kirkland, 83, of Leesburg, FL, went to be with the Lord on Friday, July 22nd, 2016, due to complications of Parkinson's disease. Mrs. Kirkland was born in Lakeland, FL. She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Dr. Harvey Ray Kirkland. Mrs. Kirkland was a loving wife, mother, grand-mother, and great-grandmother.
She supported and served with her husband in the ministry at St. Catherine Missionary Baptist Church, Bushnell, FL for three years, and at Bay Lake Missionary Baptist Church, Groveland, FL form 1958-1998. They then relocated to Brandon, FL, where Mrs. Kirkland was assistive in his role as President of the Florida Baptist College. The couple retired to Leesburg, FL where she resided until her death.
Mrs. Kirkland is survived by her daughters, Barbara Tarrents of Asheville, NC; Sharon Woolbright of Groveland, FL; Nancy Sley, FL; and Rhonda Caridi (Dr. Jim Caridi) of Gainesville, FL. She will be dearly missed by her 7 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by brothers Howard R. (Donna Faye) and James T. Burgner (Lavoynne), Lakeland, FL.
Visitation will be Tuesday, July 26th, at 10:00 AM, with the funeral service following immediately at 11:00 AM, at the Bay Lake Missionary Baptist Church in Groveland. Pastor Darrell Shelley will be officiating. Interment will follow in Bay Lake Cemetery.
