Hazel Elizabeth "Jo" Jones, June 2, 1922 to February 24, 2014, of Clermont, Florida passed quietly in her own home last Monday night. She married Norris Jones in 1940. They came to Clermont and in 1947 opened the Jones 5 and Dime in both Clermont and Groveland until 1958. They enjoyed 56 incredible years together before he left us. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Clermont for over 60 years. She went to work at the elementary school in 1958 and later moved to the high school from which she retired in 1987. She was a bridge player to be reckoned with and a world-class cook. She is survived by her children: Kenneth (Susan) of Havana, FL, Jerry (Marie) of Clermont, FL and Myra Hoffman of Groveland, FL; her seven grandchildren, Michelle, Jeremiah (Liz), Kerry Ashby (Kris), Jessalynn Ball (Martin), Samantha Smith-Jones, Jennifer Smith-Jones and Brittany Abrams (Gage); two great grandsons, Josiah Jones and Jaden Ball.
Memorial service will be held Sunday, March 2, 2014 at 2:00 PM at First United Methodist Church, Clermont, FL.
