IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Harry Martin
Medsger Jr.
September 19, 1957 – August 11, 2023
Harry M. Medsger Jr, also fondly known as Marty, passed away on August 11, 2023, at the age of 65 in Clermont, FL. He was born on September 19, 1957, in Pittsburgh, PA, to Harry M. Medsger Sr. and Carol Medsger, both of whom preceded him in death. Harry was a beloved husband to Deborah Medsger and a devoted father to Christopher (Monique), KayDee (David), and AJ (Allison). He was also a proud grandfather to Justice, Jade, Kage, Alivia, Kali, MacKenzie, Nolan, Logan, and Koryn. He was a proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps. *oorah!
Harry's youth was marked by his role as an incredible big brother to his siblings, Christi, Gary, Caren, Carla, and Curt. He had a knack for storytelling, and his tales of his time at Longvue Drive were always captivating.
Harry's love story began when he met Debbie while they were working together at the Holiday Trav-L-Park in Virginia Beach. They got married on November 24, 1978, and settled down quickly in Pittsburgh to start their family. Their love story is one for the ages as they traveled side-by-side every step of the way. (No matter how interesting things got)
Family was at the center of Harry's life. He was a devoted husband to Debbie and a loving father to their children, Christopher, KayDee, and AJ. He volunteered as a coach for his children's soccer and baseball leagues, and he was their biggest fan in every aspect of their lives. Harry attended all of their football games, wrestling matches, and cheerleading performances. Even after his children grew up and started their own families, he continued to support them in any way he could, offering advice, completing honey-do lists, and meeting their individual needs.
As his children started their own families, Harry's heart expanded to embrace a new role – that of a proud and affectionate PapPap, Pap, and Pappy. His face would light up whenever he was in the presence of his nine beloved grandkids – Justice, Jade, Kage, Alivia, Kali, MacKenzie, Nolan, Logan, and Koryn. He shared in their laughter, cheered them on in their endeavors, and provided a comforting presence whenever they needed a listening ear. Even threw in some silly pranks along the way. He made a lasting impression that will add to the stories we will tell for years to come.
Harry had a successful engineering career that spanned several companies, including Westinghouse, Eaton, Draeger, Areva, and Framatone. His commitment, hard work, and attention to detail made him an expert in his field. After retirement, he was recruited as a consultant for the nuclear industry due to his dedication to safety.
In his free time, Harry enjoyed waving the terrible towel high and rooting for his favorite team, the Pittsburgh Steelers. He was a passionate fan and always supported his team.
A Celebration of Life luncheon will be held at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, located at 920 Perry Highway, Pittsburgh, PA 15229 in the near future.
Harry M. Medsger Jr will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him. His legacy of love, dedication, and support will live on in the hearts of those he touched.
