Hal Mack Groves

August 28, 1952 – March 4, 2025

Hal was born in Kansas City Missouri and the oldest of Harold and Reva Groves' four children.  Hal had a brother, Don and two sister's Linda and Lori.  The family settled to their permanent home in West Chicago, Illinois.

Hal graduated from West Chicago High School in 1970 and was an Honor Roll Student, member of the Chess Club, Varsity Club, Football, Wrestling and Co-Captain/Captain of the Golf Team. He went on to complete a Bachelor of Science Degree from Elmhurst College in 1993.

In 1974, Hal enlisted into the Army and was stationed in Fort Dix, New Jersey as an MP.  Hal was transferred to Heidelberg, Germany where he also joined the honor guard and then returned as the Army's hometown recruiter.

Hal met Barbara Fortmueller in 1978 and with family blessings were married in "Chattanooga, Tennessee" on June, 15, 1979.

Hal and Barbara have a daughter Kristin Greenwell, born in 1982 and in 1996 the family relocated to Clermont, Florida where Hal continued his dream and desire to work as a Golf Teaching Professional until retiring in 2014.

Hal had a great sense of humor and his focus were "His Girls".  Kristin was blessed with a loving father and Hal and Barbara's journey together as husband and wife for 45 years were filled with love and many special memories.

Hal was predeceased by his father Harold Groves, mother Reva Hohl Groves and brother Don Groves. He was a beloved husband to Barbara, a loving father to daughter Kristin and survived by his sisters Linda Kovach and Lori Kelly.

Memorial Services will be held at the Becker Funeral Home in Clermont, Florida on Saturday, March 29th and services will be conducted by Dr. Danny W. Davis and Rev. Dan Parker at 2:00 p.m. with reception to follow at the Clermont Historic Village.
