Gwendolyn "Gwen" R. Puryear, 85, native of Groveland where she lived the majority of her live, and most recently from the Orchard Heights community in Clermont, FL, passed away Wednesday, January 3, 2018 at the Mike Conley Hospice House.  Gwen was born on August 3, 1932 in Groveland, FL, daughter of Marvin L. and Maude (nee Smith) Roberts, one of the original settlers to the Groveland area in the early 1900's. Gwen was a lifelong member of Edge United Memorial Methodist Church, Groveland, was a volunteer to many organizations, and a friend to countless individuals.  She was a woman of determination and true grace.

Gwen is survived by her son, Marvin Puryear and wife Kara of Groveland; daughter, Martha Holcomb and husband Gerald of Yadkinville, NC; brother, Charlie Roberts of St. Petersburg, FL; 4 grandchildren, Diana, Brian, Samantha, and Tori, and 4 great grandchildren, Della, Logan, Jude, and Charli.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Puryear, and her beloved brothers Lester, and Arthur.
