Gloria Louise Oswalt was born on October 18, 1938, in Eustis Florida. She was a lifelong resident of Clermont. She graduated from Clermont High School in 1956. She passed away peacefully on August 24, 2026, surrounded by her loving children, Vicki, Becki, and Mark.
She married the love of her life, Buddy Oswalt, on January 25, 1957. They were happily married for 65 years.
She was a wonderful wife and devoted mother to her children. She adored all her grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
She loved her home on Lake Louisa. She enjoyed watching the sun rise and set over the lake. She also enjoyed watching the many species of birds and even the occasional alligators.
She was always very supportive of her husband in their many business ventures; from oranges to real estate.
I later years, she enjoyed their mountain home on Cranberry Creek in Laurel Springs, NC. She had the best of both worlds enjoying all the spring, summer and fall flowers and leaves. They met new friends and neighbors through the church and community where they lived.
Gloria had a wonderful circle of lifelong friends that she stayed in touch with up until the time of her death.
Survivors include daughters, Vicki O. Thomas (Bill), Becki O. Young (Faron), and son, Mark A. Oswalt (Sara); grandchildren, Stacey Padget, Stephanie Thompson, Shawn Thomas, Seth Thomas, Michael Kirkland, Mason Oswalt, Grace Oswalt, Lily Oswalt, and Holden Oswalt; great grandchildren, Hunter and Josh Crumbo, Madison and Makenli Kirkland, and Isabella and Ryan Giraldo; great great grandchildren, Koen Crumbo and Silas Crumbo; Sister, Ann Smith; brother, John Smith, Jr.; and many cousins, nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law, and sisters-in-law.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard E. (Buddy) Oswalt, Sr.; her son, Richard E. “Rick” Oswalt, Jr.; mother, Mozelle C. Smith; Stepfather, Milton “Smitty” Smith; and sister, Coni Smith.
Funeral services will be held Friday, September 4, 2026, 1pm at Becker Funeral Home. Interment will take place at Oak Hill Cemetery following the service. The family will receive friends starting at 12pm.
