IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Gerald James
Fryers
June 29, 1941 – October 16, 2021
How do you describe this generous, sincere, non-judgemental, not to mention sweet, man?
He was very enthusiastic about the good old days, his 50's and 60's music, of which he could tell you the artist and name of every song, and even the year it was made. He also loved the old movies and life down on the farm.
He always had a camera with him, and was known as the picture man at the King's Ridge dances. I think he enjoyed the people as much as he enjoyed looking at his pictures. He always had an aura of fun around him.
We loved to travel, of course the camera went along, and there are many pictures to show the happy times.
His other hobby was his computer, or should I say computers, of which he had several. Of course, his music and his pictures were all engraved in them.
Among his most important loves were his son, Criss, and his grandson's, Parker and Conner. Although we did not see much of them, he was very proud of them and held them close to his heart. He also had a very special relationship with my dad, Archie, and his wife, Johan. He was also blessed with many good friends who loved him dearly, and of course there are the pictures to show for it.
Another important time in his life was the years we spent in the Sinc & Swing Entertainment group. This was a fun and carefree time for us performers and the audiences we performed for as well. It was a fun, silly, and wonderful time that we also have many pictures of and never tire of looking at.
Jerry was born on June 29, 1941. We lost him on October 16, 2021. One of the mysteries of a greater power was that he lost his dog, Comet, only two weeks before he went to join him. We are sure Comet is there waiting for him, doing his dance and so happy to see him. Here on earth Jerry would take Comet for his walk to make me happy that he was getting exercise but he was a bit sneaky and they would spend their walk time sitting on the park bench where everyone would stop and talk. Everyone was told not to tell Brenda.
He worked hard and managed Winn Dixie stores, for a time in the Bahamas, and also here in Florida. He supported his family and gave us a very comfortable life. He also played hard and was loved by everyone who knew him.
Jerry's final wish was to spend his last hours at home. Thanks to God and all the help from caregivers, family and friends, I was able to keep that promise I made.
I feel very blessed to have had such a wonderful person in my life. The love of my life.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that loved ones make donations in Jerry's honor to Cornerstone Hospice Foundation:
