Gayle M. Zimmermann, 73, of Poinciana, FL., passed away peacefully at the Mike Conley Hospice House in Clermont FL on July 29, 2017, after a brief illness. Gayle was born on August 6, 1943 in Oak Park, IL and raised in Glen Ellyn, IL and was the daughter of the late Kenneth and Grace (Lewis) Stephens. Gayle lived in Poinciana since 2010, previously residing in Lincroft, NJ. She was a passionate Bridge player and gardener, and enjoyed a lifetime of sewing and knitting. She also inherited a lifelong love of the Chicago Cubs from her father, celebrating their World Series victory in 2016, while also continuing to love her adopted team, The New York Mets.
Gayle was preceded in death by her loving husband of 35 years, Erik Zimmermann, in 2007. She is survived by her four sons: Brad Lane of Charlotte, NC, Brendan Lane of Rockwall, TX, Stephen Zimmermann of Kennesaw, GA and Erik Zimmermann of Old Bethpage, NY; her two sisters: Deborah Campbell of Ithaca, NY and Barbara Whitcombe of Tallahassee, FL 10 grandchildren whom she loved very much; her former husband, Franklin Lane, and her dear friend, Karen Porter.
