IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Gary Donald
Yenor
February 22, 1949 – September 17, 2021
Gary Donald Yenor, born to eternal life on Friday, September 17, 2021, age 72. Beloved husband of Clarice (nee Pfeffer). Loving father of Jason (Jennifer) Yenor, Michelle (Brian) Frink, sisters Janine (Curt) Klosky and Patrice (Kenneth) Garbarek. He was preceded in death by his sister Barbara Forrester and his father Donald and his mother Antonia (nee Alessi) as well as in-laws Jerome and Dorothy Pfeffer. He was a proud and loving grandfather to Hunter and Hannah Frink and Levi Yenor, and to his step grandchildren Kenny and Elisah Stanton.
Gary most proudly served his country in the US Air Force, working as a Missile System Cable Splicing Specialist. To this day, he remained lifelong friends with his Air Force buddy Bob Ahern who resides in Chicago. Gary was born and raised in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He worked for Majdecki's Foods as a teenager and had VERY fond memories of the free ham and rolls they would be treated to. After high school and his stint in the Air Force, he went to work for Allen-Bradley as a high-tech laser lab technician. Ultimately, his calling to become a Milwaukee Fire Fighter came true, attaining the rank of MPO (Motor Pump Operator) during his 15 years before moving his family to Florida to escape the winter weather. The next and last career adventure became 28 years at Walt Disney World in the Telecommunications Department, retiring as an Electronic Technician in 2015.
Gary met his wife Clarice, a student nurse at UW-Milwaukee, when he happened to need surgery and was admitted to the surgical floor where she was assigned. Gary was her patient for a day. That fateful pairing became a marriage that lasted 48 years, with his legacy of creating a family of four. The move to Florida also created the opportunity to establish a tradition of Christmas Eve Fondue that has been maintained since 1987, and we will continue to honor this tradition beyond his passing. Gary will be remembered for many unique talents, especially his superior skill at being a handyman extraordinaire. He could analyze and fix every conceivable home or car problem which made him the go-to neighbor, friend, and most especially on-call Dad! If Gary didn't have the right tool in his workshop, it probably didn't exist. Lowe's, Home Depot and Ace Hardware were frequent travel destinations for him! Partners in his DIY projects were his equally talented son and daughter, who learned so much from his life skills. When he wasn't fixing things, he enjoyed watching the Packers, Brewers and Tampa Bay Rays games, along with a PBR and preferably from his recliner or lanai rocker.
In addition to his family who already miss him terribly are his nieces and nephews, sisters-in-law Denise (Rick) and Cheryl (Bill) and their families, and friends Warren and Chris, Michael and Lisa, Cary and Roberto, neighbors Richard and Michelle, and John and Linda.
Although Gary loved keeping his outdoor landscaping in immaculate condition, he really didn't care for flowers. So, in lieu of same, the family asks that you consider a donation in his name to the IAFF Fallen Fire Fighter Memorial Fund at https://foundation.iaff.org . Our family is most grateful to the staff at Compassionate Care Hospice for their kindness and skill at helping us honor Gary's wish to be in hospice care. We could not have been able to do so without the loving hands of Tawnya, Lonna, Renae, Bridget, Jennifer, and Patti for guiding and supporting our family through this most difficult time.
