Gary Lee Carter, 58, of Clermont, FL passed away Tuesday, May 27, 2014. Gary was born in Macon, Georgia on May 21, 1956, the son of Robert L. and June (nee Hamlin) Carter. He and his family moved from Gray, Georgia to the Green Valley Country Club in Clermont in 1969. He graduated from Clermont High School and attended the University of Florida on a golf scholarship. Gary and his brothers made the cover of Golf World in 1964 and never stopped loving the game of golf.
Gary worked in RV/Bus Sales and was a member of the Clermont Moose Lodge. He was an avid fisherman.
Gary is survived by his wife, Winnie; daughters, Candace of MN and Jacqueline Grace Carter of Clermont; mother, June Carter of GA and brothers, Robert Steven Carter of Georgia and Charles R. Carter of Panama City, FL. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert and brother, David.
A Celebration of Gary's life will be held at 5:30 PM Thursday, June 5th at the Green Valley Country Club, Clermont. After the service there will be a gathering inside for drinks. If anyone would like to bring a finger food plate that would be appreciated.
