Fred Valderas Alcober, age 62, Clermont, FL passed away August 14, 2015. Retired SSG Fred V. Alcober served his country in the US Army. Born and raised in Washington, D.C., he was the second child of the late Josefina and Andres Alcober, brother to Ricardo, David, and Joyce. He married and raised a family in Fort Washington, MD moving to Clermont, FL in 2002. Growing up, he excelled in various sports, including football and tennis, and became an avid golfer after moving to Florida. He went back to school to complete his Bachelor's of Science in Business Management at the age of 56. Fred had a kind and compassionate heart that was selfless and giving. He drew people in with his positive, infectious personality that made people laugh. He loved to fix things and work on projects around the house, but his favorite job was to raise and be with his family. He was extremely proud of all of them. Fred will be truly missed. He is survived by his wife, Joyce, of 30 years, his daughter, Dominique Joy & son-in-law Jason Labson and only son Frederick Cruz.

Mass of the Resurrection will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, August 21, 2015 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church with Reverend Roy Eco as Celebrant. Burial with full military honors will follow at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL. Visitation will be from 6-8 PM on Thursday, August 20, 2015 at the funeral home.
