Obituary

Francis (Frank) Michael Pautienus

October 24, 1960 – December 11, 2020

Frank M. Pautienus passed away unexpectedly on December 11 th while visiting family in Florida.  Frank was born in Somerville, NJ and was raised in Finderne and in Manville, NJ where he graduated from Manville High School, class of 1978. Frank worked for John's Manville from 1978 to 1980, then he joined the Navy and served for 2 ½ years deployed on the USS L.Y. Spear AS-36, a submarine tender in Norfolk, Virginia.

Frank worked for Atlas Van Lines for 8 years and then he moved to Florida in 2000 where he resided with his sister Barbara for 15 years. Frank was a member of the First Baptist Church of Apopka in Florida where he attended services and weekly Bible Study, and worked for Advanced Moving Services until he moved back to New Jersey in 2015.

Frank became known for his big heart and his willingness to help wherever he lived.  Here in New Jersey he would have the neighbors walks shoveled free from snow before they got out of bed. He would take the time to check on the elderly and he helped to care for his sister Barbara when she was sick with cancer.

Frank loved to sing and he could belt out a convincing Elvis Presley song when asked. Frank enjoyed Karaoke nights and watching football. He loved to travel as well having visited much of the United States through his work and on his own. Frank loved to travel by train and had traveled some 3000 miles by train in the last month alone.

Frank was predeceased by his parents Robert M. and Helen D. Pautienus and his sisters Patricia Scherer and Barbara DeCristafaro.  Frank is survived by his Brother Robert M. Pautienus Jr., his sister Helen M. McIntosh and his beloved girlfriend Rebecca Dougherty. Although Frank had no children of his own he had many cousins, nieces and nephews he kept in contact with regularly and he was a favorite uncle to many.

Frank had many friends, those he grew up with, those he served with and those he worked with.  Frank will be remembered for his amazing strength, his sense of humor and for his loving nature. He will be dearly missed and never forgotten.

There will be a memorial service for Frank in Manville, NJ in the spring. Details will be sent out at that time. Contributions in his memory can be made to St. Hubert's Animal Welfare Center, 575 Woodland Ave., PO Box 729, Madison, NJ, 07940-0729 which is a non-kill shelter for homeless animals and or your local ASPCA as Frank loved all animals and had adopted and rescued several in his lifetime.
