Forrest Edward "Woody" Boyd, age 91, passed away on June 24, 2020 at his home in Clermont, Florida.
Woody was born in Sprague, Missouri to Cora Mae and Edward Alva Boyd on December 3, 1928. He attended the University of Missouri before enlisting in the United States Army and served in Korea during the Korean War. Woody married his wife of sixty-six years, Barbara Jane Tooey, on January 3, 1954 in Brookfield, Missouri. He worked for J. C. Penney Company for eighteen years before moving his family to Tallahassee, Florida in 1967. Woody retired in Orlando, Florida in 1991 and moved to Clermont, Florida in 1998. He was a member of the Elks Club, Rotary Club, VFW and the Korean War Veterans Association Chapter 188. He also volunteered for PGA Tournaments, served as a long time committee chairman for Arnold Palmer's Bay Hill Invitational and served on the Green Valley Country Club Board and Homeowner's Association.
Woody is preceded in death by his parents, Cora and Edward Boyd, and his brother, John T. Boyd. He is survived by his wife, Barbara, and his children, Lisa Harris (Thomas), Stephen (Johanna) and Edward (Katie). Woody will also be fondly remembered by his grandsons, Shawn Stratton (Amanda) and Stephen Stratton (Karissa) and great-grandchildren, Laney, Sadie, Samuel and Sophia, uncle to Bill Tooey, Edward A.Tooey III (Imelda), Vickie Mathis (Popeye), Valerie Marlborough, Pam Esser (John), Sharon Smith (Neal), Myjha Tremain Jackson, John Boyd and Gail Boyd Payne.
Woody will be cremated and interred at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida. Becker Funeral Home of Clermont is handling the arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Woody's name to the First United Methodists Church of Clermont Wesley Christian Academy.
